Tipping Guide: Guadalajara

Estadio Akron (FIFA: Guadalajara Stadium) • 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup

Quick Answer

Tip 10–15% at restaurants, round up for taxis, and 20–50 MXN per night for housekeeping.

City Overview

Guadalajara is Mexico’s second-largest city and the birthplace of tequila, mariachi music, and the charro (cowboy) tradition. It’s a culturally rich, lively city with excellent food and warm people. Estadio Akron (also known as Estadio Chivas) is located in the Zapopan suburb, about 15 km northwest of the city center.

Tipping customs in Guadalajara follow the Mexican standard: 10–15% at restaurants, and smaller tips for other services. The city is less touristy than Mexico City, so you may encounter less English. Learning a few Spanish phrases goes a long way.
